Romantic Oregon Getaway Idea #2 – Pristine Sunsets

Perhaps nothing is more romantic than enjoying a warm hug while watching the sunset together.  While great sunset locations abound, it can be tricky to find a good spot at the right time.  For example, if you’re camping in the forest, you might need to plan ahead to hike to a ridge for a better view.  If you are in Portland, you’ll want to know where you can park your car, or walk too, to sit and enjoy the view.  One of the best spots in Oregon is Crown Point in the Columbia River Gorge.  Check back to this site frequently to get a revised list of romantic sunset location getaway ideas in Oregon.

Oregon Romantic Getaway Ideas #3 – Nature Trails

Oregon getaways for romantic couples often include a hike through old growth forests, along creeks or rivers, with summit sunset views.

Romantic Oregon Getaway Ideas #4 – Sailing, Kayaking

Not sure that anything can be more romantic than sailing into the sunset with my partner, and this Oregon romantic getaway is actually #1 in my book.  One of the most spectacular sailing locations is the Columbia river, between Portland and Multnomah Falls.  If you don’t have a boat, the Island Sailing Club on Hayden island offers rentals, club membership, and ASA certification training.  The beauty of this Oregon getaway idea is that you can take off any afternoon and be back shortly after sundown.  The plan – leave the dock at 5p and sail up stream for 3 hours during mid summer, then head down stream for the last hour, going with the current and into a perfect NW wind – note, during summer 15 mph NW winds are common and pick up closer to dusk.  For a longer trip, stay overnight and anchor, or moor at government island dock.  Other sailing getaway ideas include Fern Ridge reservoir, Klamath lake, and the Willamette river.
