Everything has a beauty to it when you are in love. Even the Northwest raindrops land on your face differently - tingling and warming your heart. We just returned from a quick romantic getaway at Brietenbush Hot Springs near Detroit Lake. There was still snow on the ground adding a mystical aura as the hot steam rose from the pools. We especially liked the upper medow pool. Three pregnant dear grazing along the River came so close, we could almost reach out and touch them. All was quiet and peaceful and oh so romantic. We hesitated to answer the lunch bell but glad we did not miss the exquisite vegetarian meal, warm fire and hot cup of tea before visiting the steam house and off to an incredible massage. What a place to be happy and relax in nature with someone you love! Just a day trip this time. Next time we are planning to stay in one of the funky little cabins and take in some yoga and meditation classes and stretch out the romance a bit longer. And so close to Portland too.
